The Dell XPS 12 is supposed to compete with the upcoming Surface Pro 4, which touts super components inside like its Skylake processor, among other things.
Dell is looking at a peachy future. The success of Windows 10 has revived new life into companies whose devices have seen a dip in sales in the past years. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3, in particular, is reviving a market segment which has practically died already: tablets.
With Surface Pro 3 sales speaking for themselves, Dell is looking to jump in on this cash cow. The Dell XPS 12 is rumored to be a direct competitor to the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which debuts in October, the same with the XPS 12.
But before anything else, how does the rumored Dell device compare to the highly rated Surface Pro 3? Here is a quick rundown of the Dell XPS 12’s rumored capabilities and features:
For now, these are the only specs available to us. No mention of pricing, processor, RAM, memory, or even size. However, Dell’s foray into the laptop-tablet hybrid which will run on Windows 10 is looking attractive. It is a mashup of the current Surface Pro 3 with its OS and detachable and illuminated keyboard that will work “flawlessly.”
The Dell XPS 12 is supposed to compete with the upcoming Surface Pro 4, which touts super components inside like its Skylake processor, among other things. The presence of a Thunderbolt port and 4k display is expected to bump up its price. And with the Surface Pro 4 having solid hardware underneath, the XPS 12 is also expected to compete in this department.
October is only less than a month away so whether the Dell XPS 12 is really worth anyone’s time and money will remain to be seen.
The addition of a stylus also coincides with this new/old trend of using a pen on a tablet. We are looking at you iPad Pro. And with Apple's clear copying of Surface Pro 3 features like the keyboard, it looks like Dell is going out with guns blazing against all competition with its newest, and possibly greatest, device ever.
