4. Military Robots
Samsung’s home country of South Korea, is unique as its border is constantly under threat from North Korean infiltration. To stop this, the company has been producing the SGR-A1 robotic sentry gun. This device identifies and targets possible enemies and then opens fire on the with a light machine gun.
Think the Galaxy Note was too big? You wait till you see the size of the ships built by Samsung Heavy Industries. Specialising in massive, purpose built nautical platforms, this subsidiary is second largest shipbuilding in the world.
6. Life Insurance
Did we forget to mention that Samsung is also a bank? Samsung Life Insurance, yet another massive subsidiary, is a Fortune 500 listed company, that is one of the largest providers of life insurance and annuities in South Korea.
7. Fighter Jets
As well as building fancy avionics and fire control systems for fighter aircraft, Samsung Techwin is also one of the major manufacturers of jet engine systems for these planes. Just don't expect to see a big blue Samsung logo on the side
