The Apple keynote announcing the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch, is now almost two weeks past, and finally, there are other non-Apple stories cropping up in the tech world. But Apple isn’t willing to leave us unoccupied. In the coming months, the company plans to release yet more devices, included a fully revamped MacBook Air. See below 4 of the most convincing rumours which we have heard yet regarding this new ultrabook.

1. Retina Screen

The Retina display built into the screen of the MacBook Pro has been immensely successful, and has been one of the major selling points of these devices. Given this, it only makes sense that Apple includes these high resolution screens in its new version of the MacBook Air as well.

2. Even Thinner

The previous editions of the MacBook Air measured in at 17mm at their thickest point. New versions could be much thinner however, due to the fact that they are likely to include the latest Intel chip architecture which negates the need for a large fan assembly. With this removed, laptops as thin as 7mm are theoretically possible.

3. Gold and Silver Colors

With the new hugely customisable Apple Watch coming on the back of the iPhone 5C/S Apple clearly values color options. Knowing this, rumours circulating that Apple plans to sell not just a plain aluminum laptop, but also a Gold, Silver and Space Grey model seem quite plausible indeed.

4. October 21 Release Date

Apple is planning yet another press event, this time scheduled for October 21, just over a month from now. If past releases are anything for us to go off, the event will likely feature the release of a new version of the iPad, as well as new MacBook Air models.
