Yesterday LG Electronics leaked its first all-metal luxury smartwatch, the Watch Urbane. Set to be unveiled March 1 in Barcelona at the World Mobile Congress, it is clear that the Korean giant is hoping to make their latest smartwatch a serious contender against the soon to be revealed Apple Watch.
In the news release, LG stated the wristwear is “designed for a sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer that delivers unparalleled technology and performance”.
Keeping the full circular 1.3-inch Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display from the LG G Watch R, this Watch Urbane is a bit thinner and is designed for all genders. With a stainless steel body available in polished silver or gold finish, it is coupled with a natural leather strap. Also like the G Watch R, the latest Android Wear device includes a PPG sensor that will measure the user’s heart rate and average pulse during exercise. The smartwatch is both dust and water resistant.
The smartwatch will be unveiled at the WMC 2015, and will be a serious rival to the Apple Watch.
The new and impressive Qualcomm 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chip is the cornerstone to the device, and accompanies 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM.
“The LG Watch Urbane's classic design and smart features make it the perfect smartwatch to complement our G Watch and G Watch R, which were designed as more casual and active devices,” said LG mobile president and CEO Juno Cho in a statement.
