The biggest gaming convention in the world is just around the corner and gamers all over the world are already salivating at what’s to come. The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is considered by many the Mecca of gaming with people all over the world clamoring to make the trip to the Los Angeles Convention Center, USA to see what the future holds (in gaming). This generation of consoles (PS4, Xbox One, and the Wii U) are already better entrenched after being out in the market for around two years so developers are more than willing and convinced to sink the time and money into making the Triple A games that rakes in the Benjamins. What games and announcements are looking to steal the show at this year’s E3?
Assassin’s Creed Victory
From the bloody times of the French Revolution from the franchise’s last year installment Assassin’s Creed Unity, Ubisoft now brings us back in time again to the streets of Victorian Era London. Now fans of the Assassin’s Creed series have been hoping for a change of scenery from the usual Europe or North American setting of the past games. This year we were teased with the game, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China hoping for a full game set somewhere in Asia but instead the series makes the long trek from France to... England. Ubisoft’s presentation this year has to be introduce new mechanics and features to make the game seem fresh.
Supposedly developer Rocksteady’s last entry in the Arkham series, the Arkham Knight plans to end the trilogy in a blaze of glory. This game continues where Arkham City left off in 2011 with the legendary Kevin Conroy returning as Batman. This time you have the whole of Gotham City as your playground with the Batmobile at your fingertips. Batman must face fear itself against Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and many more deranged psychos. Batman isn’t alone however as Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, and Batgirl (All playable characters!) have his back. Who doesn’t want to be the Batman and save Gotham?
This year’s edition of E3 will be developer Bethesda debut at the convention and what better way to make a splash by announcing the game that has its own cult following. Since their last big release was from The Elder Scrolls series so it is more likely that the big announcement from Bethesda will be related to Wasteland adventures involving talking zombies, mutants, and maybe this time dogs as well. If they don’t announce Fallout 4, it’s going to be apocalyptic.
This is the Pokemon fighting game that would appeal to the more competitive fighting game advocate. It plans to borrow mechanics from the Tekken series so pulling off crowd darling Pikachu’s Thunderbolt might be as complex as Kazuya’s Electric Wind Godfist (This move is pretty hard to execute). The results of this odd marriage should be shocking.
Kingdom Hearts 3
Everyone’s favorite Keyblade Master Sora and everyone’s favorite mouse Mickey team up again in a full fledged sequel after nearly a decade of fillers. With Disney acquiring Marvel and Star Wars since that time it would be too exciting to think about Sora crossing blades against Darth Vader or see Donald Duck trying to act smart in front of Iron Man. The possibilities are endless and I for one cannot wait. The next series might even bring Sora to the land of Arendelle. If you don’t know where that is you might as well let it go.
The next chapter in Master Chief’s story is set to have universal repercussions. But this time you aren’t Master Chief. Say what? Master Chief has gone missing and it's up to Spartan Locke to find him. What out of this world threat must be conquered? What new arsenal is at your disposal to kill the alien scum? Bigger guns? Bigger vehicles? Yes, please.
