Google has expressed its interest in YouTube’s newest application YouTube Gaming.
When you can’t buy them then try to find a way to beat them… some other way. Google tried to get hold of the controlling rights of Twitch.tv, previously Justin.tv, in a bidding war but eventually lost out to Amazon. Twitch is currently the world’s reigning videogame streaming website where fans get to watch professional and casual gamers strut their stuff.
One bump in the road does not deter the mighty Google of course. So instead of wallowing in self-pity, Google has expressed its interest in YouTube’s newest application YouTube Gaming.
In the official YouTube blog, Product Manager Alan Joyce talks about YouTube Gaming. “This summer, we’ll launch YouTube Gaming, a brand new app and website to keep you connected to the games, players, and culture that matter to you, with videos, live streams, and the biggest community of gamers on the web—all in one place.”
YouTube promises more than 25,000 games and each of them will have their own dedicated pages. Each page will serve as a hub where you can check out news and watch the most popular streamers.
How will this new battle between Twitch and YouTube Gaming pan out? Will Google make the leap and acquire a stake in this new application?
