1. Apple iPhone 6S
By now we all know that Apple will unveil their new iPhone on September 9. The rumors seem to suggest that just like last year, we will get two new flagships: the iPhone 6S and the iphone 6S Plus. Both will retain their respective 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens, and will be powered by Apple’s A9 SoC (System on Chip) technology. Both are likely to only have 1GB of RAM and no upgraded battery, because the iOS 9 software made improvements to both the memory and the battery life. It will probably have Force Touch, similar to that on the Apple Watch, and a new camera with two lenses so to ensure “DSLR-like” photo quality.
2. Sony Xperia Z5
It’s been rumored for quite a while, but it looks like we will finally see Sony’s real flagship for 2015 at Berlin’s IFA on September 2. After the debacle of the Z4, expectations aren’t so high. Apparently there will be three variants, but the main attraction with be the Xperia Z5 Premium with it’s 5.5-inch (phablets are in, people) 4K screen (so yes, 3840 x 2160, wowwwwwweeee). With an absolutely glorious pixel density of 808 pixels per inch, Sony is prepared to rock the stage. Rumor also has it that it’s the first time in two years that the Xperia camera will upgraded, to 23 megapixels.
3. Huawei Ascend Mate 7S
Although it’s not confirmed, there has been numerous leaks, including AnTuTu benchmarks. Huawei’s phablet will have a 5.7-inch screen, with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Apparently there will be Huawei’s own octa-core HiSilicone Kiri chipset, that has been clocked at 2.1Ghz, alongside 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The rumors differ on the camera, though, with some saying a 20 megapixel rear snapper, whereas others say only 13 megapixels. They all seem to agree that the selfie camera will be 8 megapixels, though. Look for it at Berlin’s IFA on September 2.
4. Asus Zenfone Zoom and Zenfone Max
Also to be released during Berlin’s IFA, most likely on September 2, both new mid+rangers from Asus are priced reasonably. The Zoom was already announced alongside the ZenFone 2 during CES this year, but it has a 5.5-inch screen, with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The camera is the real sell on this phone, though, with 13 megapixels on the rear and 5 megapixels on the front, capable of 3x optical zoom, laser autofocus, and optical image stabilization.
The Max will also have a 5.5-inch screen but with only 720 x 1280 resolution, alongside a Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB or 16GB internal storage which will be expandable via microSD. It will have the same camera, and a massive 5000mAh battery (hence the ‘Max’).
5. Google/LG Nexus 5
Last, but certainly not least, a lot of Google fans have been waiting for the new Nexus for a long time now. Rumors have it that it will be revealed on September 29. Although it will be the smaller Google collaboration (Huawei is making a more premium one, set to be released in October), we are looking forward to a 5.2-inch screen with Full HD display. It will be powered by Snapdragon’s 808 chip, alongside 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. For the flagship additions, it will likely include a USB Type-C and 12.3 megapixels on the main camera, coupled with a 5 megapixel selfie snapper.
