If you weren’t impressed with the 6-inch display (take that, lesser rivals, with your mere 5.5-inch screens) than the 2K resolution might peak your interest.

I don’t know why the internet isn’t freaking out because today, at Gionee’s October 8 event, the Chinese manufacturer released its latest flagship, the Elife E8 in India.

Technically, it is old news because Gionee announced the phone four months ago in China, but this smartphone is absolutely epic.

If you weren’t impressed with the 6-inch display (take that, lesser rivals, with your mere 5.5-inch screens) than the 2K resolution might peak your interest. Yep, you read that right. On a massive display Gionee still managed to pack 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, or a pixel density of 490 ppi. Color me impressed.

Rocking an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 clocked at a speedy 2Ghz, and it’s been coupled with 3GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage that can be expandable via microSD.

Sadly, the handset only manages to run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, but I’m prepared to forgive it. On top of the Android, it has Amigo 3.1 skin.

But hello, super important is the camera; one of the highest resolution cameras on an Android phone, this bad boy packs a 24 megapixel rear camera that can snap 4K video.

But hello, super important is the camera; one of the highest resolution cameras on an Android phone, this bad boy packs a 24 megapixel rear camera that can snap 4K video. Obviously it comes with optical image stabilization, and a 6P lens with a sapphire glass cover and true tone flash, which means it performs well in low light. Gionee claims it takes only 0.8 seconds to launch the camera, and the phase detection can focus anywhere from 0.08 to 0.2 seconds. According to the Chinese firm, it is the world’s first smartphone to debut 24 megapixels, which means after optimization, it can produce a 120 megapixel resolution still image.

The front snapper is also a very acceptable 8 megapixels.

It comes from 2015, so you bet your ass is has a fingerprint scanner. It has a 3,500 mAh battery, but to be honest, with that size, resolution and processing power, this won’t be enough. Apparently it supports quick charge, though.

Available from October 12, it will be sold exclusively through Snapdeal priced at INR 34,999 or $539.
