Do We Really Need More?

Every year, us hardware aficionados and gaming enthusiasts go crazy to have the latest, the best to run our games at the highest possible quality...Something that often conflicts with our budget and the introductory prices of some cards which are pricey mainly because they are new, not because they've proven their performance. In this regard, the RX 6700 XT is a real gem. It's a graphics card that, even as of mid-2025, is as relevant as ever. I recently built a new PC with a Ryzen 5 9600X, 32GB of RAM at 8200Mhz, and all medium-high range components... I thought the 6700 would be the weak link, since I built a PC with 4K gaming in mind but the graphics card packaging suggests it's suited more for 1440p gaming. Yet to my big surprise, I'm gaming on a 65-inch TV playing 'Assassin's Creed Shadows' in 4K at ultra graphics settings with no drop below 60FPS (I don't need more as that's the refresh rate of the TV). I've also tried out 'Red Dead Redemption 2', all in 4K at high graphics settings. I'm speechless, I don't know if it's because the rest of the components are giving a performance boost but it's working as good, if not better than what I've seen in any benchmark. For now, I don't plan to spend more than 1500 dollars (in Argentina) just for a small performance jump. Thank you RX 6700 XT.

Just picked up a Sapphire Nitro+ 6700xt and absolute love this card. Runs Cod on ultra at 145+ fps on 1080p without going above 65 celsius. And any other game I throw at it is at least 110 fps on ultra or high.
The ROPs are responsible for some of the final steps of the rendering process, writing the final pixel data to memory and carrying out other tasks such as anti-aliasing to improve the look of graphics.
The effective memory clock speed is calculated from the size and data rate of the memory. Higher clock speeds can give increased performance in games and other apps.
VRAM (video RAM) is the dedicated memory of a graphics card. More VRAM generally allows you to run games at higher settings, especially for things like texture resolution.
A wider bus width means that it can carry more data per cycle. It is an important factor of memory performance, and therefore the general performance of the graphics card.
Error-correcting code memory can detect and correct data corruption. It is used when is it essential to avoid corruption, such as scientific computing or when running a server.
DirectX is used in video games, with newer versions supporting better graphics and features. The latest version is DirectX 12 Ultimate, which includes support for ray tracing, mesh shaders, and variable rate shading (VRS).
Some apps use OpenCL to apply the power of the graphics processing unit (GPU) for non-graphical computing. Newer versions introduce more functionality and better performance.
The graphics card supports multi-display technology. This allows you to configure multiple monitors in order to create a more immersive gaming experience, such as having a wider field of view.
DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is an upscaling technology powered by AI. It allows the graphics card to render games at a lower resolution and upscale them to a higher resolution with near-native visual quality and increased performance. DLSS is only available on Nvidia GPUs.

AMD's FSR4 is an upscaling technology powered by AI. It allows the graphics card to render games at a lower resolution and upscale them to a higher resolution with near-native visual quality and increased performance. FSR4 relies on specific hardware and is only available on select AMD GPUs.
The thermal design power (TDP) is the maximum amount of power the cooling system needs to dissipate. A lower TDP typically means that it consumes less power.
Small semiconductors provide better performance and reduced power consumption. Chipsets with a higher number of transistors, semiconductor components of electronic devices, offer more computational power. A small form factor allows more transistors to fit on a chip, therefore increasing its performance.
Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) is a high-speed interface standard for connecting components, such as graphics cards and SSDs, to a motherboard. Newer versions can support more bandwidth and deliver better performance.
The graphics card uses a combination of water and air to reduce the temperature of the card. This allows it to be overclocked more, increasing performance.
