Bethesda has officially dropped a bomb on the whole world. And no it’s not the nuclear kind that brings with it death and destruction. But a whole different kind of nuclear, the Fallout 4 kind. The much awaited sequel to Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas is likely to hit stores later this year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Bethesda has released the trailer and you can check out the juicy details below as well as five awesome things we are looking forward to.

A Blast from the Past

Part of the trailer shows flashbacks from before the bombs hit. So I want to hope that we get to play portions of the game pre-fallout so we get a better perspective of everything.

The Protagonist Speaks!

Past Bethesda games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 have been banking on the silent protagonist trope as to give players a more roleplaying feel and to give our imagination the exercise that it needs. It’s a nice of change of pace that the main character of Fallout will be much more alive and not a blank space of a wallflower.

Boston Blues

After our romp through the Mojave Deserts and Washington D.C. in the past titles we are getting a different locale this time around. Pack your bags we are going to Boston. We even see a bunch of Bostonian landmarks in the trailer. Scollay Square, Fenway Park, the Massachusetts State House, and even good ol’ Paul Revere’s statue all make an appearance. If you missed them go watch the video again!

Throwback Tunes

Part of Fallout’s charm is the excellent incorporation of old classics. The trailer features the Ink Spots playing ‘It’s All Over But The Crying’ in the background. And I’m just excited how else they incorporate the oldies feel.

Let the Dog(s) Out!

The dog is practically the star of this trailer and the protagonist is just like a supporting entity. I want the dog to be a very big part of the story. Because why not? Spoiler alert. You know when Will Smith’s dog died in ‘I Am Legend’ or when Marley got euthanized in ‘Marley and Me’. I cried. So hard. Dogs dying get me much more than humans dying. My point is… Bethesda please don’t kill this dog.
