Alcatel has long been a player in the phone game, but always excelling in feature phones, rather than smartphones. Although they’ve made a few attempts in the past years, their smartphones have never reached iPhone or Galaxy popularity.

Until now, perhaps. Alcatel debuted the Idol 3, their first ever serious flagship, that is offering fantastic specs as low prices.

The handset features a 5.5-inch, full HD screen, that has been calibrated by Technicolor to ensure true colors, and perfect readability even in the brightest sunlight conditions.

The Idol 3 is also sporting an outrageously fast 1.7GHz processor, a 13 megapixel primary camera, and an 8 megapixel (yes, eight) front shooter. Also on deck is 2GB of RAM, 16GB of memory, LTE support and a whopping 2,910 mAh battery.

The truly outstanding surprise, though, is that Alcatel included dual-stereo speakers, located at the top and bottom of the device, as well as dual microphones - which means no matter how you’re holding it, the UI will adapt to the way it is in your hand.

Even better, the Idol 3 will be available for pre-orders on April 21, for the low price of $249, which is even lower than the retail price of $279.

All the pre-ordered handsets will be delivered in May.
