Google's Data Saver mode was first introduced in March 2013
Always worried that you're consuming a lot of data? Then fear not, Google Chrome to the rescue. They've recently announced an upgrade on their data saver mode for Google Chrome Android that lets you save up to 70 percent of data when you browse web pages. This was an upgrade as the mode only saves you about 50 percent in the past.
For now, India and Indonesia will be the first Android users to sample this new feature which will soon be followed by other countries. Google Product Manager for Chrome Tal Oppenheimer explained in his blog post that they were able to provide this feature through removing images when users load a page using a slow connection.
“After the page has loaded, you can tap to show all images or just the individual ones you want, making the web faster and cheaper to access on slow connections.” He further explained regarding the trend that browsers had been working on lately.

Google's Data Saver mode was first introduced in March 2013 in Android which soon was given to iOS as well. It was a very practical practice especially for users in growing markets compared to highly developed countries. Through this mode, users are saved from ads, rich media, and other things that eat up unnecessary data usage.
Unlike Chrome, Apple's mobile Safari browser for iOS still doesn't have any data saver mode. Instead, Safari offers users to block ads. Meanwhile Opera Software has their own data-saving Android App, Opera Max which include music streaming apps. As of now, the new update on Chrome is not yet ready for iOS and we wonder if it'll ever be rolled out in the said OS.
