Back in September, Starbucks made sure to feed your coffee addiction the best it can. No more waiting in line or beating the morning rush of caffeine-thirsty zombies through the app which let you order in advance. It also lets users pay from their mobile phone and have the orders for pick up at the nearest store. The service definitely spelled convenience and zero customer-barista shouting match.
Seeing the great advantage of such app presents to a business, Dunkin' Donuts decided to release their own. Once again, the saying "If you can't beat 'em, then join 'em" comes to play. Starting Wednesday, Dunkin' restaurants in Maine, specifically Portland will service customers who ordered ahead of time through their smartphones.
But they wanted to surpass the competition, why stop at just advance orders? Dunkin' amped it a notch higher by also offering delivery services in 19 selected areas in Dallas. Soon, the delivery service will also be available in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. as Dunkin' partnered with DoorDash to make this possible.
Guests can pick up their mobile order at the drive-thru after placing a mobile order up to 24 hours in advance.
"The ability to skip the line to order your favorite coffee, donut or sandwich any time of day, or to have Dunkin’ items delivered directly to you are two things that our guests have been requesting for some time. We are excited to launch these two new tests, and we will continue to evaluate a possible national rollout for both programs in the future.” shares Dunkin’ Donuts’ Vice President of Global Consumer Engagement Scott Hudler.
Guests can pick up their mobile order at the drive-thru after placing a mobile order up to 24 hours in advance. Afterwards they can just simply confirm via the app when they are at the selected restaurant and ready to pick up their order, how’s that for convenience? The app also spells good news to Dunkin’ loyal customers just like how Starbucks pushes their loyalty program to their usual patrons.
Tagged as DD Perks, loyal customers will earn five points for every dollar they spend on qualifying purchases at Dunkin’ Donuts when they pay using an enrolled Dunkin’ Donuts Card, either plastic or via the Dunkin’ Mobile App.

Once 200 points was earned loyal customers receive a coupon for a free, any-size beverage of their choice, redeemable at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. Aside from these, members also receive a coupon for a free, any-size beverage upon enrolment and on their birthday. Isn't that sweet?
