What was showcased as a mere prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas back in January, has been catapulted into the consumer market due to unforeseen interest. Samsung’s bendy TV will go on sale in South Korea today, August 1st.
The 78-inch bendable 4K screen, which is four times sharper than current HD screens, can go from flat to curved at the press of a button. The idea is that you can control the angle of the curve based on how many people are watching the TV. Many cinemas also use this idea.

The curved TV (model UN78S9B) won’t come cheap, however. Pre-orders for the TV have been priced in Korea for an estimated 35 million won ($34,000 approx). Yikes.
If you just so happen to be in Seoul, the bendable TV will be on display at the Samsung Digital Plaza in Gangnam and Lotte Department Store in Jamsil, if you want to see what all the fuss is about.
