Microsoft/Bungie’s Halo series is one of the bigger (if not the biggest) pieces of IP around. Its games have made billions and helped propel the company’s Xbox console system to global success. While additional money has been made in merchandising, there is one area where this IP has had serious problems: live action video adaptations. Years ago we were promised a dark and suspenseful film adaptation, produced by Peter Jackson, based on the original game, however due to a multitude of reasons, this film was never made.
Now it seems, good things come to those who wait. Renowned film director and producer Ridley Scott (of Alien and Prometheus fame) has returned to work on his own, dark interpretation of the Halo universe. Coming in the form of a new video series entitled Halo: Nightfall, this production will bridge the story gap between Halo 4 and the forthcoming Halo 5.
