At long last, a replica version of the original Star Trek Communicator has been created.

Frankly, it’s about time too, considering that this year has been a series of one movie flash back after another.

On display at San Diego Comic Con, it’s a good day to be a Trekkie. And much in the way Star Trek, nothing is useless - it actually is a working Bluetooth headset and speaker.

Obviously, it connects to your smartphone so that you can answer all your calls (in your best Captain Kirk impression), and it also doubles as a speaker for music should you want to rock out in your own spaceship. It has a wireless charging stand to top up the battery.

The coolest thing about this replica is that it was built by The Wand Company and was created using structured-light 3D scanning, which means it looks exactly like the one used by Kirk.

It will finally be available to own in January 2016, but sadly, it doesn’t come cheap. Retail price is already at $149.95, but you can pre-order it on the Star Trek shop. More importantly, if you’re at Comic Con this weekend, check it out.
