Fresh from May the Fourth fashion, EA has announced that Star Wars Battlefront will feature 12 multiplayers maps in the game’s initial release this coming holiday season. One of the newest additions to the locales will be that of the planet Sullust. Sullust was first mentioned by none other than Darth Vader himself in Return of the Jedi. The planet features volcanic terrain with Icelandic inspiration. DICE EA lead concept artist Anton Grandert describes the scenery as ‘black sharp rocks, huge land shifts, red lava, turquoise lakes, and white smokes.’
Barren wastes of Tatooine, the frozen expanse of Hoth, the lush greens of the Forest Moon of Endor, and newcomer volcanic Sullust will all be part of the roster of maps for the game when it ships November 17, 2015.
Members of the DICE team actually travelled to Iceland to take reference photos for the Sullust concept design. DICE senior lead artist Petter Skold said, ‘We used the source material that we gathered from Iceland to shift and bend to the design detailed in our concepts,’.
Stars Wars Battlefront will wage war across different planets and modes. Star Wars fanatics will be happy to hear that the barren wastes of Tatooine, the frozen expanse of Hoth, the lush greens of the Forest Moon of Endor, and newcomer volcanic Sullust will all be part of the roster of maps for the game when it ships November 17, 2015. Some modes will tailor to epic large scale combat featuring AT-ATs and AT-STs while some modes will feature a more intimate affair in good old fashioned close quarter foot combat. Space battles have also been announced giving you the option to commandeer an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter. The hype is strong in this one indeed.
