Google had used Lexus SUVs and even purpose-built vehicles by Roush Industries, and now it's discussing possible partnership with Ford for their self-driving cars. One might wonder why doesn't the company aim for the most talked about electric car brand of today? Tesla.
The Model S is Tesla's recent offering which comes with a hefty price tag of $70,000. This might be a reason why even though Google co-founders Sergey Brin & Larry Page once invested in the brand, producing Google Self-driving cars using Tesla might be deemed too expensive. But does the luxury car worth every penny?
Just recently, Spotify released a statement that they partnered with the premium electric car company especially its Model S. With this, owners of the Tesla Model S will have a Spotify Premium in-car access for free. As the company previously offered an in-car streaming music through Rdio which officially shut down operation Tuesday, Spotify secured a spot for their services.
It also has Autopilot feature which might be comparable to what Google Car offers.Tesla Model S owners in Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong can now have this voice-controlled access of Spotify Premium which the US will soon enough have as well. Car owners can now choose from more than 30-million songs which Spotify offers, ensuring a great music-filled ride.
Senior manager for Automotive Business Development at Spotify Jonathan Tarlton shared that their partnership with Tesla was developed for many months. "The car radio has not changed much at all, so what we're doing with Tesla represents the future," he said. "Tesla owners will be able to access a full premium experience, free from adverts." This access is only limited to accounts inside the Model S.
The Tesla Model S features a 17-inch touchscreen in its interior which will be where drivers can choose their Spotify preference. According to their website, said screen is "the gem of the interior...which is angled toward the driver and includes both day and night modes for better visibility without distraction. It puts rich content at your fingertips and provides mobile connectivity so you can easily find your destination, favorite song or a new restaurant."
Aside from great music experience, the car promises zero emission as it is made from advance electric power train and not having a gasoline internal combustion engine. It also has Autopilot feature which might be comparable to what Google Car offers. The Model S also has a 5-star rating in all categories of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test ensuring you that you are beyond safe with this vehicle.
Owners of the Tesla Model S will have a Spotify Premium in-car access for free.
It certainly offers more than these features mentioned convincing everyone that with great price, comes great electric car! Tesla CEO and Product Architect Elon Musk also heads SpaceX which successfully made a history upright landing today. It seems Musk is making modern transportation milestone both in land and space with Tesla and SpaceX.
