The iPhone 6 Actually Has A Huge Battery!

Why didn’t Apple tell us earlier?

When Apple first unveiled the iPhone 6 to the public last week, the company talked alot about the features of the phone’s hardware, but only in very vague terms. This led many to believe that Apple was not giving out specifics on these key areas, as the iPhone 6 was under-powered and compared badly to competition at least in quantitative terms. However this in actual fact may not be the case.

One of the key omissions from the keynote was information on the size of the iPhone 6’s battery. Rather than give us the mAh (milliamp/hour) rating of the battery, Apple simply gave us the vague promise that the new iPhone would have “50% more battery life” when compared to the previous iPhone 5S.

With the iPhone 6 hitting the shelves in the last 24 hours, groups were quick to begin a thorough teardown on the phone. Amongst the other tightly packed components of the phone, they made a strange discovery. This iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus contained a 1,810mAh and a 2,915 mAh battery respectively.

This battery size, while not the best of the best, is far from being embarrassingly small, especially on the larger sized iPhone 6 Plus. Indeed, many competing Android devices have similar sized or smaller batteries. Knowing this then, it seems strange that Apple chose to leave this information out from it keynote press event, or indeed its official tech specs hosted online.
