The Mac App Store Nightmare

Siri forgot to remind the Digital Rights Management that the security certificates were about to expire

Imagine having all your paid and downloaded apps suddenly didn't want to open and tell you they're all damaged! Well, imagine no more, it actually became a reality as Mac users cried in anguish when their apps flashed error on their screens yesterday. It seem that Siri forgot to remind the Digital Rights Management that the security certificates were about to expire resulting to such mishap last Wednesday.

The very thing that was supposed to protect users and Apple from privacy which is the security certificates for apps became the reason for such blunder. The expiration was set to five years after initial creation but Apple wasn't able to provide an updated replacement.

Even after Apple fixed the error through issuing new certificates for the apps, users were still living the nightmare.

Even after Apple fixed the error through issuing new certificates for the apps, users were still living the nightmare. The updated certificates was now given an expiry date up until Apri 2035 but those who aren't connected to the internet wasn't able to verify agreeing to it. The same problem was also faced by those who can't remember their login details for iCloud.

It created all the unnecessary hassle especially some were even inconveniently forced to delete and reinstall all of the apps they already previously bought and downloaded from the app store. This resulted to lots of rants in Twitter. Hopefully, Apple will work harder in not mixing up dates and updates like this one in the near future or else it will be que horror all over again.
