Will HTC make up for its losses?

To rectify themselves and appease the public after the abysmal M9’s sales, apparently HTC is working on a top secret new flagship that will be released this year.

So the HTC One M9 was unveiled last March, and it was a complete flop. I’m being honest here, people. While the One M7 and M8 were revolutionary and dazzling, the M9 has been nothing but a big womp womp.

Why? Aside from this really annoying design flaw (the lip, ughhhhh, so irritating), it has a terribly low battery life, which gets a big boo from me. The operating system, Sense 7, is also nothing that inspires. But the real disappointment was the camera. I absolutely adored the M8, which is what launched HTC into stardom, for its camera. It had a super fancy 4 UltraPixel camera which meant that the pixels were bigger, so the low light capacity was so much better than any other camera on the market. But the M9 lacked any innovation - instead, they stuck a typically boring 20 megapixel snapper on the back but left the UltraPixel camera on the front. The result? Absolutely horribly low light setting (which was to be expected).

I know I’m being a bit harsh, but all those things are true. However, the M9 is still a high-end flagship, nonetheless.

Known as the HTC Aero, not only will this showstopper be sporting QHD resolution display (that’s 1440 x 2560 pixels, for you folks) but it will also have Gorilla Glass 4 and a 2.5D glass, which usually hangs out around the edges of curved phones.

So, what’s the fuss? Well, apparently HTC realized their big, huge, gigantic error as soon as they made it. So to rectify themselves and appease the public after the abysmal M9’s sales, apparently HTC is working on a top secret new flagship that will be released this year.

Known as the HTC Aero, not only will this showstopper be sporting QHD resolution display (that’s 1440 x 2560 pixels, for you folks) but it will also have Gorilla Glass 4 and a 2.5D glass, which usually hangs out around the edges of curved phones (see the iPhone 6, for examples).

This is a huge upgrade from the 1080 pixel screen found on the One M9, but hardly unprecedented, as QHD has already graced some HTC phones, such as the M9+ and One ME. Both boast a 5.2-inch display, so I wouldn’t be shocked to find the same screen size on the Aero, but that’s pure speculation.

Apparently there will also be a “groundbreaking” camera, as well there should be after the mess of the M9. The Aero is rumored to have a f/1.9 aperture, which obviously means that the low light capacity will once again be nothing but magic. A little bird also mentioned that the new handset would have the ability to store photos as RAW files.

Because this is all top secret leaks and speculation, there is nothing certain. However, even if the specs aren’t all correct, it’s pretty definitive that there is a new phone, and more importantly, it will launch in October.
