The Original Apple Watch

After the Apple Watch’s official debut during the Spring Forward event, Motorola put their best foot forward. Only one day later, the Moto 360 smartwatch became customizable.

With an easy user interface, the Moto Maker has several different colored watch cases, wristbands (including leather or metal), and watch faces. Although certain metal materials cost extra, its only upwards from $30 to $50, which means the cheapest smartwatch you can now create will set you back $250, but it can go up to $330. This is still way cheaper than Apple’s options, which start at $349 for the sport version, but can go up to $1049 for the metal versions.

I have to confess that I am rooting for the underdog. The Moto 360 is the unappreciated genius of the smart watches. All the press and attention that the Apple Watch is now getting, should actually go the Moto 360. For all intents and purposes, the Moto 360 is the actual original Apple Watch - the first of smartwatches to have the revolutionary software, just like the iPod, iPad, and iPhone before it. Outfitted in Android Wear, the Moto 360 stays connected to your phone to display your notifications, based on the time and your calendar. Weather, flight alerts, traffic, and more are all integrated into the device, as well the communications your phone is receiving, such as emails, texts, and phone calls. It even has voice control, and obviously, like all original wrist devices, it has built-in sensors for a healthy lifestyle, called Moto Body, that monitor your heart rate, but also inform you of the calories burned and will even offer coaching advice so you reach your fitness goals.

It was also the first watch to feature apps. All the notifications for your Facebook Messenger app, to Pinterest, to Tinder, To Eat24, will appear right on your wrist.

Similarly to Apple, it has an all day battery and a wireless charging dock. It is water resistant, and it is compatible with any Android 4.3 and higher.

Undoubtedly the original, revolutionary “Apple” product for smartwatches, this wearable is preparing to compete with its rival.
