Vaio breaks free from Sony with their brand new mid-range smartphone
The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Has Competition

Seemingly specifically designed as competition to the Xperia M4 Aqua, the Vaio Phone is a mid-range smartphone that is affordable with decent specifications.

VAIO Corporation, or Visual Audio Intelligent Organizer, has been manufacturing tech since 1996, as a branch of Sony. In February 2014 the company was sold to a Japanese investment firm, and has since then been producing computer technology.

However, now, as was long expected, VAIO has introduced their first independent smartphone. Seemingly specifically designed as competition to the Xperia M4 Aqua, the Vaio Phone is a mid-range smartphone that is affordable with decent specifications, although for those can that can upgrade, the Xperia M4 Aqua is still undoubtedly the better quality device.

Simple and stylish, it is a light 130 grams, whereas the Xperia M4 Aqua is 136 grams. Offering a 5-inch display with a 720 pixel resolution screen, the handset will run a 1.2GHz processor, along with 2GB of RAM. Although the Xperia has a speedy 1.8GHz processor, the Vaio phone has an impressively large 16GB of internal storage, along with 64GB microSD support, whereas the Xperia M4 Aqua has only 8GB of internal storage. Importantly, the Vaio Phone boasts a large, 2500 mAh, all-day battery compared to Sony’s 2400 mAh.

The device will run Android Lollipop 5.0, and will also have VAIO’s own UI on top of it.

The handset from VAIO will also feature a 13 megapixel rear camera, but the specifications for the front camera are still, as of yet, unconfirmed.  The mobile device, VAIO Phone, will be available in Japan starting March 20, for 51,000 yen or $420. As to whether or not the mid-range smartphone will ever make it outside of Japan, that is still unclear.
