Imagine how great it would be to have a butler. Someone to cook you breakfast and bring you coffee to your bed. Sadly, the realisation that this dream (along with winning the lottery) will probably never come true is one of the hardest parts of growing up. But innovate designer Joshua Renouf has come up with a compromise: A fresh coffee-brewing alarm clock called the Barisieur.
Before you even get out of bed, an intriguing system that looks like a tiny version of your high school chemistry set gets to work on becoming your personal bedside butler. A hidden induction heater heats up a collection of steel ball bearings in the bottom of the beaker, which transfer heat to the water to boil it. Due to the beakers shape, steam and pressure build and push up through a tube onto the ground beans. So you really can wake up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee right next to your bed. And for the breakfast part? Well, you might have to take a tip from The Office’s Michael for that one...
The contraption also contains a cooled slot for your milk and space for your sugar and extra ground beans. Sadly, there’s only one of these beautiful appliances in the world right now, but plans are underway to produce some more miracle machines, which are expected to retail at around $250 to $420.
