We all do weird things when we’re drunk. But rather than carrying home a road sign like the rest of us, Phillip Weicker and Duncan Forster had a few drinks and instead decided to build “The World’s Fastest Hottub”, and now they need your help to race it.
Combining the two ideals of a luxury car and a hot tub, the engineering students have been working on their chlorine and carbon monoxide fuelled dream since 1996: The Carpool Deville. Years of renovations later, and the ‘69 Coupe Deville has been transformed into a fully functioning 102 degree hot tub which is also suitable for land-speed racing. The engine heats up the water while the hand controls work as pedals and a rollcage makes it all perfectly legal (we think).
Ok its not going to cure any diseases or bring world peace, but its historic innovation and dedication definitely deserves to be shown off at the SCTA next month. Now if only alcohol could make the rest of us do something more creative than drunk texting our ex, too.
