Why is it that lots of annoying clone apps get accepted into the Apple store, and seemingly innocuous ones get rejected? It all comes down to the small print it seems.
While developing an app it’s pretty important to heed Apple’s instructions in order guarantee your project is actually going to make it into store, and not miss out on a mere technicality.
“before you develop your app, it’s important to become familiar with the technical, content, and design criteria that we use to review all apps.”
Even though there are now a reported 1.2 million apps in the Apple store, Apple still keep a tight rein on what gets accepted. They now have a new webpage dedicated to the elusive criteria, called “Common App Rejections.” They say, “before you develop your app, it’s important to become familiar with the technical, content, and design criteria that we use to review all apps.”
Below are the top ten reasons listed for app rejection last week. These reasons account for 60% of all app rejections.
The main reason, "more information needed" seems pretty vague, but is explained further by Apple.
"If some features require signing in, provide a valid demo account username and password. If there are special configurations to set, include the specifics. If features require an environment that is hard to replicate or require specific hardware, be prepared to provide a demo video or the hardware. Also, please make sure your contact information is complete and up-to-date."
The rest of the reasons are pretty straight-forward. The most important thing it seems is to keep your app bug free.
