The latest from Empire Robotics is a the Versaball robot, a little machine invented for doing something we previously thought only humans could do: win at beer pong.
He has a spectacular gripper “hand”, which has such great aim due to science. The ball is stuffed with a sand-like material, and then air is pushed into the ball, which moves the sand around. The robot then puts the ball on whatever object needs to be gripped, and then the air is sucked from the ball. Once the air is removed, the sand is stuck, which gives a perfect grip.
