Virtual Reality is always testing limits, working to bring the most immersive and life-like experience to users no matter what the theme and this year is no different. Trends in the porn industry can  usually be pretty good indicators of things that are going to sell well on screen and what people are attracted to. The industry also has a lot of marketing power and has been a leader in adopting technology for decades. Remember that episode of Silicon Valley where Pied Piper's file compression algorithm was finally going to get its big chance to perform? Yes, the fact that the client was a huge porn website gave the plot a funny twist, but it also rings true to the importance of the presence of the porn industry on the internet and their early adoption of improvements in content distribution throughout the years.

Fortunate Mashable writer Raymond Wong was invited to test out a new virtual reality experience at the Consumer Electronics Show with leading pornography production company, Naughty America. To take a quote from his report, "Things got really weird." We can imagine this might not have been the most comfortable assignment to take, but it sure makes for a good story! Below you can check out the safe-for-work video to see his in-the-moment reactions to a VR porn demo.

This particular demo gave the user an experience of a threesome in a bedroom that was so real, it seemed like it was happening right then and there. Looking through the Samsung Gear VR headset, the user was transported into the experience and assumed the first person point of view as one of the stars of the sex scene. Getting to see the leading ladies perform for the male character he became once he put on the headset seems like it was all a little overwhelming, judging by his reaction.

But, let's talk tech for a second. Apparently the view for this demo was limited to 180 degree tracking, meaning that if you look in another direction, like behind you or too far up or down, you'll see black. A spokesperson from Naughty America brought up a good point though suggesting, "Why would you want to look any direction but in front of you when you're having VR sex?" And let's face it, if you're used to watching on a computer, you're probably looking straight ahead most of the time anyway. I mean, maybe you have 360 degree video walls in your red room, but if not, a 180 degree tracking view with adult entertainment right in front of your face is probably a vast improvement from your current viewing experience.

So, prepare to be amazed and overwhelmed by yet another virtual reality experience that we're sure to see more of in the next few years, maybe even a trend that will change the porn industry as a whole. Some people want to get immersed in a virtual reality environment that takes them back to pre-historic times and hunt like cavemen. Some people want to check out their favorite sports teams behind the scenes. And some people want to get freaky with a headset attached to their face. Virtual reality certainly has something for everyone. 😉
