According to multiple sources, Samsung has already got back into the factory to create a bigger version of the Galaxy S6, their 2015 flagship, for later this year.

The android handset, nicknamed Galaxy S6 Plus, will most likely be introduced at the annual IFA consumer electronics trade show that is kicking off in Berlin this September.

Also known as “Project Zen 2”, the S6 Plus with have a large, 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display (for brighter colors and darker blacks), along with curved edges along both sides, just like the Galaxy S6 Edge.

It is also rumored to have the same processor as the LG G4, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, along with 32GB of internal storage, and a whopping 16 megapixel primary camera paired with a 5 megapixel front camera.

One of the reasons we are calling it the “Galaxy S6 Plus” is because it mirrors Apple’s iPhone 6 marketing strategy - with a regular sized flagship, and a larger phablet sized flagship.

Honestly, if you were to ask me, I would have to admit I think that this is a pretty shady rumor. Samsung already has the Galaxy S6, a device of 5.1-inches, and the well-loved Galaxy Note 4, which is 5.7-inches. It also already has a Note Edge, which is the Note 4 but it comes with one edge display on the right side - so it seems a little unnecessary to have a slightly smaller device with an additional edge. It’s a hard stretch to imagine they would create another phablet sized device, but who knows? Samsung does love to give their customers a large amount of options.

I would also like to say that “Project Zen 2” sounds a lot more like a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus to me, as well. Let’s all hope that whatever the device that debuts in Berlin this September, that it comes with a stylus!
