Last week, Lamborghini, long the producer of cars which encourage drivers to break the speed limit, gave something back to the community. Police in Italy have been gifted a brand new Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 supercar as part of a PR move designed to aid police catch even the fastest of criminals.
Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, handed over the custom ‘Polizia’ model of car to the the Italian State Police, Prefect Alessandro Pansa, in a ceremony in Rome. The new Huracán LP 610-4 features a 5.2 l V10 engine with 610 hp, and reaches a top speed of over 325 km/h (202 mph). Aside from it’s custom paint job, the super-sports car will feature unique low profile LED lights, so as to minimize drag.
Needless to say you shouldn’t try and escape from the cops in Italy. But there are other places in the world that have equally impressive police cruisers, sure to ruin any would-be criminal’s day.
Dubai doesn't have just one supercar - it has a whole fleet.
Foremost among these places is Dubai. In this cashed-up Gulf emirate, millionaires in supercars are a regular sight, and within such an environment, the police don’t want to be left out either. In fact, they don’t have just one supercar - they have a whole fleet. Among these are some of the fastest and most expensive cars of Earth.
Their leading car is infact a Bugatti Veyron: the fastest production car in the world, billing in at over 4 million USD, and able to reach speeds of more than 400km/h. Backing this up is a huge variety of other exclusive supercars including a Lamborghini Aventador, Aston Martin One-77, Ferrari FF, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, and a Bentley Continental GT. Aside from being able to win hands-down any desert street race, the Dubai police also use their cars as PR opportunities, proving that not even the police are immune to the desire to show off.
Other countries, like Germany also feature decked out cars, fine tuned to lay down the law on the speed-limitless Autobahn. Among the fastest of these is their heavily customized Mercedes Benz Brabus Rocket CLS, which at the time of its deployment was the fastest police vehicle in the world.
Lesson? You will never escape the police in Italy, Germany or Dubai.
